[KR892] Keiser Report: Valley Girl

We talk ‘tacos and cabernet’ as both the media elite and the political elite go like totally Valley Girl as rising inequality and declining wages stump the so-called experts. In the second half we talk to anthropologist and LSE professor, David Graeber, about his latest article, Despair Fatigue. They look at the latest in austerity outrages and at the complicit media which refuses to cover the resistance to these policies.

More proof that Trump is the Banksters choice, and right according to The Script:

NATO will be allowed to fall apart, under the guise of renewed nationalism, and along with it a lot of the violence. The men behind the curtain will live to continue their global manipulating, safe in the knowledge that ‘we the people’ are dumb enough to fall for the same old game time after time:

(nationalism will actually be ‘nationalism’, with Treasuries being already controlled by ‘them’.)

Hats off really, it’s quite a trick!

Speaking of genocidal lunacy. Chernobyl goes full frontal Fukushima “cleanup” :
…A heavily contaminated area within a 10-kilometer radius of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine will be used to store nuclear waste materials, the chief of a state agency managing the wider exclusion zone said in an interview. “People cannot live in the land seriously contaminated for another 500 years, so we are planning to make it into an industrial complex,” …
…(He) added, “We are considering building a facility for alternative energy such as solar panels” so as to utilize the remaining electricity infrastructure including power grids for the Chernobyl nuclear power plant there….

Even relatively low-level dump radiation is bad even for robots who are there only for a short while. Considerably more delicate and exposed solar panels are going to need intensely frequent replacement and maintenance. Which will probably expose people that much more frequently. Specialized people that need to be trained. Taken from a population that is suffering “de -education” pressure from the institutions, from diverse interest groups, and from the economic “distress” of “the economy” in the job-recruitment region. And that’s on the bright side.

Chernobyl. That’s in Russia, right? 0.0

Reposting a comment from the previous episode’s comment thread.

Is that wise? Isn’t there the danger that they could defect?
“There have also been reports of U.S. workers traveling overseas to train replacements on foreign soil. [Even with all the political and legal efforts,] there’s no certainty any action will derail the forces moving IT jobs overseas.”

Now this could get interesting. The football captain and cheerleader culture – that the authoritarian right wing adoration of ignorance and violence is a degenerate extension of – had no real place for them. The interaction between the outdated right wing, and the somewhat more intellectual “geeks and nerds” has always been a slightly uneasy one. Probably fun to observe, sociologically. Anonymously.
At least his animatronic impersonator puppets ought to improve significantly. Especially if compared to that very obvious badly spray-painted cheesy latex suit his doubles and stand-ins often wear at large public events.

They never *really* ever competed. In some instances, the companies even used the same offices and photocopiers… It was a break up in name only. …Good eye!!

‘A once unusual observation, that during the Industrial Revolution black moths in London survived better than white moths because they were better camouflaged in a polluted environment, has now become the norm. Life around us is now primarily black-moth-like-adaptations to our environments: cute dogs, cats, flowers, foods.’

Consider if you will, a rewrite of the sentence … * Life around us is now primarily black-moth-like-adaptations to our environments: cute dogs, cats, flowers, foods, Verizon, CenturyLink, AT&T Inc. Aside but Currently, [3companies that have the RBOCs as predecessors.]

Anti social criminal offenders? Some refer to this as the externalization of behavior.

How serious? The separate occupied domains of conduct disorder, mental health symptoms of psychopathology, al in need of treatment by way of a massive shift in the environment. A consciousness transition, to a science based, non-monetized ecosystem. How long will we deny treatment?

Like a moth to the flame, Divisiveness produces a psychopathic fication; you zero in on ‘them’. Recidivism? always a system mending, mindset apparatus. …the next morning the fiction persists & the next & the next. Within the monetized ecosystem our default approach, shows as highly engineered; focused on ‘Us and Them’. The bottomless need for divisiveness –teaches us to dislike and distrust each other – the system wins – moreover, we mend the system. Make no mistake, the fiction of wealth, it matters not rich, or poor, homo sapiens are entangled in a bad idea.

Instinct for research Prompt: How skinny the perspective? … you could consider the ‘polluted environment’ equivalent to a camouflaged, Monetized Ecosystem. Consider the empirical evidence of a monetized ecosystem and black moths.

  43. swell says:

The Script; apologists like Steve Keen, blame it on incompetence, rather than design. “No one could have seen this coming.” Look at the post on John Perkins up on the main page, compare that explanation.

The recognition of a script goes back a very long time. Here is another example:

“All throughout history, religious and political institutions of the demiurge on Earth have deliberately conspired to eliminate, or at least distort, the Gnostic vision wherever it appears. Any systems of thought in which any trace of Primordial Gnosis can be found is forbidden or misconstrued. This is how dangerous Gnostic knowledge is for the demiurge’s plans. Hiding the Truth is part of the orchestrated plan so that man cannot wake up, let alone rebel. This is about man remaining confused, misled and half-asleep, so that he never comes to realize who he really is and what situation he is in. That he never knows the truth about what has happened, what his present reality is about nor what his future will be. It is hoped that man never finds out the right answers to these three fundamental questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What am I supposed to be doing?” (found on random web page about the ancients)

Yet another example is found in the Hollywood Production Code Administration, popularly known as the Hays Office. of Will H. Hays, postmaster general from the administration of Warren G. Harding and tasked to structure films’ content and values. “The Production Code, the enabling legislation for classical Hollywood cinema, was written by Father Daniel Lord, a Jesuit priest, and Martin Quigley, a prominent Roman Catholic layman and editor of the influential exhibitors’ journal Motion Picture Herald. The official catechism—deference to civil and religious authorities, insistence on personal responsibility, belief in the salvific worth of suffering, and resistance to the pleasures of the flesh in thought, word, and deed.”

“Adopted under duress at the urging of priests and politicians, Hollywood’s in-house policy of self-censorship set the boundaries for what could be seen, heard, even implied on screen. Not until the mid-1950s did cracks appear in the structure and not until 1968, when the motion picture industry adopted its alphabet ratings system, did the Code edifice finally come crumbling down.” ~~Thomas Doherty.Pre-Code Hollywood.1930-1934

Why are Max & Stacey so afraid to utter the word union?? Back in the mid-90s when this Keynesian money printing economy started, the word union became a dirty word. Unions died, the ONLY means for workers to increase wages has died. There is a documentary on Netflix on how Walmart has wiped out the retail sector and made everyone low wage slaves to this corporate behemoth. Why dont Walmart workers unionize? Back in the 80s I remember people who worked in grocery stores made $17 an hour. Thats $43 an hour in todays inflation adjusted money. Walmart keeps raking in hundreds of billions of dollars, why are workers afraid to unionize??

Also I am surprised that Stacey forgot Moon Unit’s song “Valley Girl”, she invented the whole idea of Valley Girl, this song came out in 82 if I recall.

Alex Jones presents this video on two vying economic/political systems: capitalism v. communism.

University of California Press, Berkeley, Los Angeles, California, “one of the most distinguished university presses in the United States, enriches lives around the world by advancing scholarship in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences,” gives us “The Final Victim of the Blacklist – John Howard Lawson, Dean of the Hollywood Ten”, by Gerald Horne:

“It was one of the ‘capitol’s biggest shows,’ crowed one local newspaper, as ‘more than 100 reporters’ assembled to make sure that the moral of this story reached far and wide. There were ‘at least four newsreel cameras trained on the witness chair…manned at all times. Six or more still photographers—often as many as 10 … crouched near the chair.’

“Thomas’s committee was the epicenter of the gathering Red Scare storm. With satisfaction he remarked subsequently that ‘the room was not only jammed with spectators, but it was crammed with newspaper correspondents, news camera men, movie cameras,…radio operators and their machines, even Washington society.’

“One of the chief investigators for the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) was ‘an actor born who was never happier than when he was slinking about in disguise. He smoked a curved-stemmed pipe a la Sherlock Holmes and was a real sleuth.’ This congressional hearing was a form of guerrilla theater, a drama meant to instruct a wider audience about the arrival of a new political era.

“Thus, by the time Lawson arrived in the witness chair at 10:30 a.m. on 27October 1947, he had managed to unite a powerful array of foes bent on his destruction. Thomas, Congressman Richard Nixon, and those interrogating Lawson were determined to get answers to questions about two organizations he had helped to build—the Communist Party and the SWG — and Lawson was equally determined to resist their inquiries. ‘It is a matter of public record that I am a member of the Screen Writers Guild,’ he shouted, but added quickly that ‘the question of whether I have held office is also a question which is beyond the purview of this committee….it is an invasion of the right of association under the Bill of Rights of this country.’

“‘I am an American. I am not easy to intimidate. I was the first president, in 1933, and I have held office on the board … of the Screen Writers Guild at other
times,’ and, yes, he worked at ‘practically all of the studios, all the major studios.’

“’It is unfortunate and tragic that I have to teach this committee the basic principles of American [life]. I have told you, that I will offer my beliefs, affiliations and everything else to the American public, and they will know where I stand.’

“Thomas replied, ‘Officers, take this man away from the stand.’ … [T]hen the committee cited him for contempt — a charge that was to derail his lucrative screenwriting career and land him in federal prison.

“Thirty years later, in the high court case of Wooley v. Maynard, Carey McWilliams, the prominent California progressive, observed that ‘by ruling that the First Amendment protects the right to refrain from speaking about one’s political beliefs as well as the right to speak,’ the court vindicated Lawson’s position. ‘Today,’ he added, ‘this point of view is not exceptional; then it was. In fact, it was regarded as heretical.’

“For his heresy, Lawson was placed in a tiny, clammy prison cell.”

    2016 Kids’ Choice Awards

    A look at the top:

KCA’s aired live on March 12, 2016, at the The Forum in Inglewood, California over Nickelodeon, part of Viacom International Media Networks, Directed by Joe DeMaio.

2016 KCA’s were hosted by famed Country singer Blake Shelton. The show opened using universally familiar Star Wars iconography, Selena Gomez popped in, Shelton offered to join her squad, Gomez declined. Shelton began making his way to the show itself, passing Nick Jonas, host of 2015 KCA’s. Shelton had first to blast through Star Wars’ First Order, to reach the Com chair, already manned by Breanna Yde. (Yde then hands over the Com seat, which she explains she has modified just for the occasion and Shelton whereupon gets propelled to the stage.)

The over-arching e-ticket ride at the KCA’a is the untoward application of Nickelodeon’s patent, also iconic, ubiquitous green slime.

As Fifth Harmony’s (winner of Favorite Music Group) Camila Cabello nearly found out, those blasts of green slime directly up from the floor make for potentially tawdry up-skirt surprise.

Robert Downey Jr., was there, repping Captain America. Dove Cameron (alongside Rob Gronkowski), simply radiated beauty. Maddie Ziegler,(wearing an eye-catching yellow Peggy Hartanto with narrow open strip down the front to a gem cutout), had a microphone and speaking lines as did JoJo Siwa, who I spotted immediately in the crowd largely before anyone else, just as I had when watching the 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards.

    Adam Sandler was there.

At one point in time, the very worst acting was to be found in the film genre of pornography. Then, it was found in the genre of science fiction. Today, arguably the worst acting is found on Nickelodeon.

The bad habits formed there today threaten to continue to plague that field of actors for a lifetime to come.

  55. swell says:

The MPAA rating system gave us “X”. Today, rather than as part of Hollywood, the Adult Film Industry has grown up separately and in the same Valley Girl’s San Fernando Valley, of Los Angeles.

Consider how our major schools teach filmmakers their craft and the arts themselves for that matter. Yet the Adult Film Industry has grown up by itself in the San Fernando Valley, and evolved of its own accord and its own devices. No major universities currently teach porn school.

Now imagine if this story had come from Philip K. Dick:

  56. swell says:

“Like all the other MPAA member studios, Warner Brothers is committed to ‘box office friendly’ movies. Studio executives do not necessarily like such fare, but that is beside the point. Semel’s refusal to finance the release of an NC-17 cut of Eyes Wide Shut has nothing much to do with his respect or lack of respect for Kubrick. And Kubrick’s willingness to comply with the conditions of the standard studio contract he signed with Warner Brothers, which required him to deliver an R-rated print, tells us nothing about his personal or working relationship with the studio executive. Both men understood the rules going in.

“The Classification and Rating Administration’s objection to the orgy scene in the director’s cut was anticipated and was consistent with its classification of other similar scenes in other studio films. Kubrick made the film knowing that the orgy scene would most likely be cut to suit the industry censors. He understood that when the CARA board listed certain changes he might make to secure an R rating, Warner Brothers would force him to make the cuts or find someone else to do it for him.

“That said, it was well worth Warner Brothers’ time and money to let Kubrick shoot the scene and the film the way he wanted. From the start, Semel could plan on two versions of the film: an American release version cut to suit CARA and a director’s cut, suitable for general release in Europe. The NC-17 version is now available stateside on video, laserdisk, and DVD. Now we can see the orgy scene intact. Now we can see a film a second time that was not very good the first time we saw it.

“The New York critics’ letter called attention to the ways such a practical business policy might have a larger cultural or political dimension. Their letter to Semel described the CARA board as ‘a punitive and restrictive force [that] effectively tramples the freedom of American filmmakers.’ The studios’ collective commitment to the economic imperatives of a safe and sensible movie culture (as envisioned by the MPAA) has engendered, in the critics’ words, a ‘kneejerk Puritanism.’ The network of cooperative and collusive arrangements between the MPAA, CARA, and the member studios has, the critics contend, stifled creativity and has required of filmmakers and studio executives alike the delivery of watered-down, dumbed-down products.” ~~Jon Lewis.Hollywood v. “Societies based on private property and competition, in which monogamous families became practical units for work and socialization, found it especially useful to establish this special status of women, something akin to a house slave in the matter of intimacy and oppression, and yet requiring, because of that intimacy, and long-term connection with children, a special patronization, which on occasion, especially in the face of a show of strength, could slip over into treatment as an equal. An oppression so private would turn out hard to uproot.” ~~Howard Zinn.A People’s History of the United States.Chapter 6: The Intimately Oppressed.Harper & Row.1980

These same “Values” of moral ballast as evinced by Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit’s “PhotoDNA”, illustrate the software giant’s long-entrenched commitment to policing the moral fabric of society. If that pays off handsomely in spades, so be it.

The postmodern pastiche of “Sex-Crazed AI Chatbot, Tay”, principally designed with “Sweetie” in mind, yet with profuse apologies then trailing behind, speaks volumes as to how Microsoft intends to totally sanitize Tumblr, once its merger(s) and acquisition(s) of/with Yahoo become(s) complete.

[blockquote]Consider how our major schools teach filmmakers their craft and the arts themselves for that matter. Yet the Adult Film Industry has grown up by itself in the San Fernando Valley, and evolved of its own accord and its own devices. No major universities currently teach porn school.[/blockquote]

Most people dont know it, but the porn industry was run by the New York mafia all the way up till the internet age

In the documentary, Pornography: The Secret History of Civilization (2000), they offer an explanation for why your meme might gain such traction:

“They imprint fear, as fear is the basis of control.”

To be fair, the Mitchell Brothers were involved with O.C. ties to financing and also through drugs. Then-Mayor Dianne Feinstein made her bones against the brothers and later, Feinstein partnered with Orrin Hatch, to enact the Republican’s Contract With America, agenda item, to outlaw pornography. Not totally successful, they settled for half, and succeeded in getting the child pornography prohibition.

“What was the secret that the serpent told Eve? That she could eat a certain fruit? Pah. That was a euphemism. The fruit was carnal knowledge, and everybody from Thomas Aquinas to Milton knew it. How did they know it? Nowhere in Genesis is there even the merest hint of the equation: Forbidden fruit equals sin equals sex. We know it to be true because there can only be one thing so central to mankind. Sex.” ~~Matt Ridley.THE RED QUEEN: Sex and the Evolution of Human Nature.Harper Collins Publishers.New York.1993.p6
