    The title says it all. They really couldn’t have picked a better name, for what they did, in hindsight. People need unexpected causes to pop up out of nowhere; it wakes you up and you feel a little more alive. Nice image.

  2. gardener1 says:

    How about this: Fuck Pussyriot.

    Ill behaved, trespassing, poseur bad Roosky street theatre making headlines looking for their 15 minutes of fame. They found it.

    Pussyriot offers Russia nothing in the way of better government or socio-economic improvement or quality of life. Pussyriot wanted to embarrass the Russian Orthodox church and VVP, but instead ended up with an aborted performance of bad art and a jail sentence. Bad art is is deserving of such punishment. There is too much talent in Russia to put up with the rubbish of Pussriot trying to pass as artistic Moscow anti-establishment angst.

    Siberia is their best bet. They should consider it their future. Lots of space where nobody cares what kind loser you are.

  3. Queue says:

    Pussy Riot are hate criminals. Desecrating a church is no way to express dissent.

  4. swell says:

    Whose mission is to “expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit and otherwise neutralize” specific groups and individuals.” ~~the original obdurate FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover

  5. @gardner1 The meaning of a spectacle is not always the message or lack thereof intended by its participants.

  6. TJ says:

    @ Keiser

    You’re not going to tell these numbskulls it’s a fake event run by Putin, are you?

  7. Ivan-in-Oz says:

    Agree these chicks shouldn’t be in gaol. But wonder if they’d be getting all this press without their crude name. How about equal opportunity freedom pleas for other innocents that lack headline magnetic names but suffer worse injustice, and that from more ‘respectable’ governments, like Bradley Manning, Schapelle Corby and even Viktor Bout?

  8. H says:

    Is the meaning of this that they didn’t get justice? there was a trial. Is Banzai suggesting Putin interfered in the judicial process? I haven’t read or seen anything to suggest that. Surely an independent judiciary is what the West waves about as a standard of democracy. So calls to ‘free pussy riot’ by western politicians are yet another example of rampant hypocrisy. Cold War never really ended, did it?

  9. bleep says:

    I love that Free Pussy Riot is spreading so quickly.

  10. Environmental Extreamist says:

    @H

    You HAVE GOT to be kidding. How many MILLIONS of political prisoners have been arrested, jailed and/or killed by THE JUDICIAL PROCESS? Over the last 2000 years.

    The slickest kind of political repression IS a (corrupt) judicial process. And that’s exactly what Russia has proved itself — corrupt. But they are hardly alone in the world. Even here in Japan the judiciary is corrupt.

  11. alanborky says:

    Ah William how disappointing. I was expecting a riot of pussies.

    Saying that reading some of the comments here I got one!

    The reason why these young ladies were holding their protest in a Russian Orthodox church was precisely because they were protesting at the Church getting into bed with Putin for financial gain effectively allowing him to create the illusion he wad being personally and politically backed by Jesus and the Virgin Mary.

  12. Al Kyder says:

    @ Ivan-in-Oz – Victor Bout ? com’om dude really?

    @ william Banzai- Really using Stalin how cliché. Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili (Stalin) was doin time for armed rob, (Stick Ups) when the revolution began. Anyone who can go from their to leading the worlds biggest country is worthy of more respect.

    Next Stalin means /translation/ Man of Steel. That is where Super Man comes from. He was a parody of Stalin. Thats why Super Man wears Red Underpants on the outside of his tights. Because he is a Commie.

    So America’s greatestr super hero is a parody of Stalin, hahah stupid Americans.

  13. Ivan-in-Oz says:

    @ Al Kyder – agreed Bout not totally innocent, but they’ve thrown his key away only because if he gets out he can tell the world about the missile ‘they’ hit their own Pentagon with to sucker US taxpayers into funding their PNAC wars. It took 10 years for Susan Lindauer to get out & blow her whistle, and she was one of their own & totally innocent.

    Uh oh, just checked that link, & its been taken down. Not surprised, its dynamite if you can find it.

  14. Hayzois says:

    Our system loves the dissidents of the other, as they affirm our prejudice by exposing the flaws of the other, we call them heroes. But it seems to hate our own dissidents, for exactly the same reason, for exposing our own systemic weaknesses, whereas we should call them heroes!

  15. Ivan-in-Oz says:

    @ Hayzios – good point. Perhaps its our herding instinct, making it much more uncomfortable when someone bucks our groupthink than when someone in the other bucks their groupthink.

  16. You-know-who says:

    SHOW ME them prison orgies B*tchez

    not sure what chicken’s like in the can ROFL

  17. Flopot says:

    3 years for causing havoc is a church is crazy. And by backing Pussy Riot I am not condoning Western hypocrisy over this issue – this is not a zero sum game. Now, if they are clearly in the pay of some U.S. funded NGO that would change things but where is the evidence?

  18. Al Kyder says:

    @ Ivan-in-Oz Would that be exposing the Dungeon masters?

    Well if you are an Ivan, (no insult my Russian Brother) you would know all about Transdnestr and the Sheriff Company. Hell where do you think Israel gets those Katyusha rockets for Hamas to fire at them from.

    I’d give my left testicle to get inside the Grozny oil institutes archives, or did they all get burned during the second Chechen campaign.

    The problem for Putin is that he does not know who he is at war with, is it the USA or BP? If I was a betting man I’d say it was BP. Smashing Lukoil was the best thing Putin could have done.

    I can still remember Lord Browne and Baroness Thatcher at Gulistan Palace signing that deal with SOCAR for the Shah Deniz.. The Turks screwed them (Sibel Edmonds real name is Sibel Shah Deniz) ha 9/11 truther with an agenda. They get burned. Russia sold all that oil to the USA via Iran under Reagan, the wells were just mud, but luckily the leases did contain massive gas reserves.

  19. Danny Cunnington says:

    If you look at the media surrounding Pussy-riot fakes it’s exactly the same as the hysterical coverage of the Russian elections with US backed NGOs staging protests to get themselves arrested. That election which Putin easily won with five different choices was about the most transparent election held anywhere with an all paper ballot and coverage from 180,000 webcams. The western propaganda were forced to stop calling the elections rigged due to a lack of credibility and had to go with the back-up term “skewed” although none of them could explain what they meant.

    The main coverage of pussy-riot is from Amnesty international. The director of Amnesty is straight from the US state department and if you check AI cover every single issue that the US state department does in parallel. They are anything but independent and use a mass of shell companies to try and obscure their NGO funding.

    Although the sentencing was a little harsh it should be understood that the Russian public are very aware of the fake colour revolution schemes, the funding and staging of fake protest movements which always turn out to have no real public support. Basically the Russian public are wise to these anti-Putin fakes and don’t see why they should be tolerated.

    Also, Putin recognised the Russian orthodox church as the national church largely in response to criticism (by the same propagandists) to him not doing claiming that not recognising the church was an attempt to introduce Stalinism. Somehow now they are accusing Putin for the opposite reason. I’m no great fan of Putin but I do get tired of being told a pack of lies by the same discredited people, over and over.

    Cabal forces tried to asset strip and colonise Russia’s natural resources in the mid nineties with their drunken puppet. Putin undid the ruse and sent them fleeing into exile in Israel and London. This is the main reason for Putin’s popularity.

    IMO Putin is autocratic and quite oppressive. to those that don’t share his vision. There’s plenty of corruption there to go round but can anyone argue that the City of London, Wall street or Washington is less so?

  20. williambanzai7 says:

    @Danny Cunningham. That’s very interesting. The authoritarian power grab is on all over the world and the competition for global advantage is just heating up again.

  21. Flopot says:

    @Danny Cunningham

    Where is the evidence that Pussy Riot are US sponsored “agent provocateurs” and not just a a group seeking infamy or pushing a cause? The frenzied and hypocritical Western MSM coverage could just as easily be described as an exploitation of the “Pussy Riot” trial.

  22. Flopot says:

    @Danny Cunningham

    You state it quite explicitly – “Pussy-riot fakes”.

    Now, I know all about the Western MSM attempting to paint Putin as a dictator, presumably to prepare the sheople for an invasion or proxy war sometime in the future. I know all about the biased coverage, not only of the recent elections but the entire post-Soviet narrative that tries to paint the real dictator, Yeltsin, as some sort of democratic saviour. And the propaganda worked, no-one in the West seemed to question his bombing of the Russian Parliament!

    Now that we have all that out of the way and hopefully we have established I am NOT supporting the Western MSM hypocritical coverage of the Pussy Riot trial, I ask again were is your evidence that they are fake?

  23. Danny Cunnington says:

    @Flopot, My evidence is only anecdotal. I mainly look at the media sources, check out the protests for signs of mass behind the scenes organisation and the see the same pattern over and over. I’m basically saying (IMHO) they were put up for it as patsies. They got slammed for it because Putin knew that he could do it bearing in mind the Russian people’s common knowledge about foreign sponsored NGO activity. The new Russian law that forces foreign NGO funded groups to register as “Foreign agents” means they can only use proxies from now on.

    My definition of Fake; Not the real thing; Something staged to create a false impression; or in this case (IMO), something that was designed to look like a spontaneous protest action but was really a product of propaganda from behind the scenes.

    I’m aware that you don’t fall for MSM propaganda. I read your posts and follow many of your links. It’s just that all I’m hearing is the same old broken record from the usual suspects.

  24. Flopot says:

    @Danny

    Oh, I fall for MSM bs all the time but I do not want to fall into the trap in which I label everything as a setup. What if the Pussy Riot women are bonefide feminist activists? Which is why I am being a gadfly regarding evidence etc. But I take your warning – they oculd easily be just another in a long line of Western patsies.

    Love your posts btw – packed with analysis.

  25. fucking unbelievable..welcome to the dark ages..
