“This page is a conglomeration of some of the harshest arguments against monotheism from a practical and pragmatic point of view. It is about the terrible results of monotheism as embodied by Christianity and Islam in particular. I have a wealth of statistics and arguments behind every argument made here, so, each topic is a summary and a link to more in-depth reviews. The scale of the horror presented is too much to be contained in a single web page.”

That site is a joke – it’s just a collection of people’s gripes about an imperfectly implemented system

I saw no real reference to proper studies at all

As usual, it’s from people claiming all Christianity is wayward instead of critiquing the wayward elements hiding behind the Christian banner

I’ve seen proper scientific studies that investigated criminal behavior inside Christian organisations versus outside it and they find no greater amounts of sexual abuse than that found in other organisations or the normal public for that matter

Christianity polarised nations, helped people think beyond themselves and work for a cause greater than themselves – this is what drove nations ahead

Yes, somewhere along the way religion captured this selfless effort and turned it into a self fulfilling, self centered organisation but lets understand that this is NOT Christianity – it’s no more Christianity than we have Corporatism masking as capitalism today

I’d rather a world run by Christians than any other types because they alone believe vengeance belongs to God and not themselves. All we do need though is to rid the Christian organisations of the dogma that has usurped their love for their fellow man and rid the organisations of narrow minded thinking. Once upon a time the Church led the scientific world in exploring the world, finding out the mind of God and learning about His creations – then religion captured it – as it does ALL systems

You obviously have not met real Christians – only I suspect the media portrayed ones or the ones who have sadly become entrapped inside religion

Yes, I have studied Greek / Hebrew. I have studied Christianity and I have passed through the ranks of learned Churchianity only to emerge and realise that Churchianity isn’t where God is found – He’s found in the hearts and minds of those that will embrace an all loving creator.

Don’t tarnish Christians based on a few bad apples who lost their first love and succumbed to dogma and religion – you’d have to banish the entire human race using that standard of measure!

Petrobras Confirms Oil at Nordeste de Tupi

RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras said Friday that the company’s second well drilled in areas acquired from the government in 2010 confirms the discovery of high-quality crude.

Petrobras drilled the well in an area known as Nordeste de Tupi, which is northeast of the Lula field that was the first Santos Basin pre-salt discovery to enter production. The well was drilled in 2,131 meters of water about 255 kilometers offshore from Rio de Janeiro.

“So far, a column of oil more than 290 meters thick has been identified in carbonate pre-salt reservoirs,” Petrobras said of the Nordeste de Tupi prospect. Well tests showed the reserve contained oil rated at 26 degrees on the American Petroleum Institute’s rating scale.

In 2010, Petrobras acquired the rights to produce 5 billion barrels of oil from areas held by the government as part of a capitalization of the company that included a $70 billion secondary share offer.

Imminent Exploration to Determine Pre-Salt Opportunity

The oil potential of some of the world’s most promising acreage in ‘pre-salt basins’ is about to be determined courtesy of imminent exploration activity being undertaken by London-listed oil companies, said oil analysts at London-based Westhouse Securities.

The investment bank highlights imminent drilling from two junior oil explorers quoted on London’s Alternative Investment Market – Chariot Oil & Gas and Max Petroleum – as being likely to help bring a focus on to pre-salt plays.

Westhouse’s oil analyst team describes these as “important dates in the pre-salt calendar”.

Pre-salt refers to a group of rocks located in the marine portions off most of the Brazilian coast, some off the West African coast and parts off Kazakhstan, with potential for oil generation and accumulation.

It is termed pre-salt because it forms a range of rock that stretch under an extensive layer of salt, which in some areas of the coast reaches thicknesses of up to 6,500 feet (2,000 meters). Over time, these rocks have been deposited before the layer of salt.

The total depth of these rocks, which is the distance between the sea surface and oil reservoirs beneath the salt layer, can reach more than 23,000 feet (7,000 meters).

The accumulation of hydrocarbon in the pre‐salt can be vast. According to Westhouse, it is estimated that the Tupi discovery in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil has estimated recoverable volumes between 5 to 8 billion barrels of oil equivalent. The Guara discovery, also in the Santos Basin, has volumes from 1.1 to 2 billion barrels of light oil and natural gas with gravity around 30 degree API.

Westhouse also highlighted the oil and gas sector’s exposure to major pre-salt basins as:

Brazil (Santos and Campos Basins): BG Group, Petrobras and Statoil
Angola (Kwanza Basin): BP, Exxon, Total, Chevron, Maersk Gabon: Ophir Energy
Namibia: Chariot Oil & Gas, Tower Resources
    Lower Congo: SOCO International
    Kazakhstan: Max Petrol

    @ susan.

Thats a good question. It is a bit out of my range of expertise, but I would say he is just another Kleptocrat in a long tradition of Kleptocrats along the Pirate Coast, just like Muammar Gaddafi

I remember numerous articles about the pirates of puntland. I think some of the high seas hijacks would have been done by professionals, although I am not saying the pirates were no capable, I just don’t think they could or would do it.

There was a fake American company that got bucket loads of cash from Bush to Run a private marine security service. It was insured, but it had no boats and was an empty office in Huston.

There was also the issue of Bashir buying black market arms from the Ukraine, tanks etc.

I suspect he was buying these with cash, no questions asked.

The most reliable info was again wikileaks cables.

Omar al-Bashir has 9 bn $ parked at Lloyds and Luis Moreno-Ocampo, told US officials it was time to go public with the scale of Bashir’s theft in order to turn Sudanese public opinion against him.

“Ocampo suggested if Bashir’s stash of money were disclosed (he put the figure at $9bn), it would change Sudanese public opinion from him being a ‘crusader’ to that of a thief,” one report by a senior US official states. “Ocampo reported Lloyds bank in London may be holding or knowledgeable of the whereabouts of his money,” the cable says. “Ocampo suggested exposing Bashir had illegal accounts would be enough to turn the Sudanese against him.” Lloyds denied the claim. These cables released by WikiLeaks also reveal that: — US officials regard European human rights standards as an “irritant”, criticising the Council of Europe for its stance on secret rendition of terror suspects.
Richard Dicker, head of international justice at Human Rights Watch, said: “If Bashir were to be tried and convicted, these funds could not just be frozen, but used as a source of reparations for victims … [of] horrific crimes in Darfur.”
$9bn may sound like a lot and is almost the same amount as has been transferred from north to south Sudan under the oil revenue sharing part of the comprehensive peace agreement since 2005. In a remarkable series of exchanges, the cables also reveal how Sudan’s mineral wealth had a direct bearing on the ICC proceedings against Bashir, as China balked at action against him that could harm its interests in the oil industry. “Ocampo said China, as long as it continues to have oil concessions in Sudan, does not care what happens to Bashir,” one cable states.
In another cable dated March 2008, a senior French official noted “growing Chinese concern about possible north-south fissures in Sudan and the possibility that its oil interests could be threatened”.
In return, the Chinese expressed “puzzlement” that the French — a member of the ICC and able to influence the deferral of proceedings against Bashir — supported Ocampo’s decision to pursue the Sudanese president, given France’s (Total) oil interests in the region. “[The Chinese] observed French companies have oil interests in Sudan as well as Chad,” the Americans stated.
France ultimately supported Bashir’s indictment, but the cables suggest this was deliberately calculated to protect their oil interests. The French told the Americans they believed that firm action on Darfur was the only way to protect oil interests.

‘This is one of those mind blowing pieces of information that shows there is nothing that is not owned by the Federal Reserve. A little known company – Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation – DTCC is the one entity/corporation in the world that holds all stocks and bonds traded for brokers.

They handle every stock/bond transaction world wide. Not just that, but every stock/bond that people think they own, they are not the owners of them. The stocks and bonds are not in their names in fact, the broker puts them in a fictitious name which the DTCC owns. The DTCC is listed as the actual owner of the stock and bond and those who have purchased them are strictly the beneficiary of said stocks and bonds.

You may be thinking… well being beneficiary is just as good as being the stated owner…. WRONG! Being beneficiary of the stocks and bonds purchased may be fine when all things are going well, but what happens when things start going nuts and banks have some real problems (ie: Greece default and banks exposure to it, via derivatives)?’

  36. neweveryday says:

Outrage itself is a Ponzi scheme. So long as new people are brought into awareness of what is going on you have ‘viewing figures’. You can incite them to commit outrages themselves as a knee-jerk reaction until that doesn’t happen on the scale you might expect. The harder route is to educate and mobilise those you have hooked into constructive political petitioning. Yes, you can cause a revolution, but can you make it work effectively for positive change? That is the pertinent question. Meanwhile, you can trawl for outrage, keep you viewing figures profitable and – at the end of the day, all you are doing is that you are playing a Ponzi game of inciting ineffectual outrage and achieving statistical success for your platform and not effecting existential change. Camping on public squares and being peppered by policemen makes news, but it doesn’t effect actual change. Real life is harder, takes more effort and work than anyone seems to think.

“outrage porn”…yeah it might be…but there’s certainly that level of
outrage around the UK at this moment, especially with the economic
policy and direction the Cameron government is taking this country.

  41. neweveryday says:

Alf, I think we are maybe in the same boat. I am just asking what lies beyond becoming aware and, thereby, outraged. Becoming aware is stage one, becoming outraged is stage two; but what is beyond that reaction – an individual and personally effective response. Stacking silver is one thing. Preparing for shortages is another. Political activism is also a possibility but joining a mob, vilifying individuals, ranting and raving just makes news, not change.
My point is that arousing awareness is good, inciting outrage and knee-jerk hostility is futile. What lies beyond requires imagination. Only individuals can live and survive the times.

  42. Alf says:

Yeah…I agree with a lot of that…but the entire system has become impenetrable
to change, politically, economically and socially…far as I can see we need a
huge shift in public mind set but unfortunately I can’t see where the awareness
    will come from.
