Computer hackers plan to take the internet beyond the reach of censors by putting their own communication satellites into orbit.

The scheme was outlined at the Chaos Communication Congress in Berlin.

The project’s organisers said the Hackerspace Global Grid will also involve developing a grid of ground stations to track and communicate with the satellites.

  4. Jayme says:

In it’s present mode of intellectual property ownership and government controls, technology is inherently the poster child of fascism. Capital owners move it and control it in order to control their populations and markets. I expect that any centrally planned globalist run government in their self righteous mind would neither want nor allow ‘its’ citizens to be able to speak freely unless it was somehow able to add one of their own undocumented features.

Still …. it would be cool if something like that were to come about.

Yay for satellites. Anything that will let normal people get around the dipshits who invented SOPA, Echelon, Carnivore and all the other totalitarian nonsense, is on paper a good thing.

  7. alan says:

I am almost speachless. Its great ot see the enthusiasm, but as Jayme notes communication is the jewel in the crown of the elite. I can not see it being allowed to happen.
I love the enthusiasm and you have to do what you have to do.
    Good luck

    Great…

Sounds like the people planning this are swarming with government spooks.
That will give them the perfect excuse to seize near and far space as their own because it’s will be full of “Orbital Terrorists”.
Whomever this group is… they’re BOGUS and just creating one more reason to Crush YOU.

  16. Robert Mockan says:

These are probably the last generation who will be able to even imagine such a project.
What about the next generation? Being able to think for themselves will be a crime.
